Description
ELVIA first produced military-spec diving watches of this type and case design in the 1970s for the French Navy, and this watch retains much of the spirit of their original timepieces while incorporating notable modern improvements for robustness and reliability in everyday use.
Improvements over the 1970s models include a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, a ceramic bezel insert, and significantly increased water resistance. While the original watches were rated to approximately 200m, this version is water resistant to 300m (1,000 feet), making it suitable for serious diving and demanding professional environments.
The watch measures 40mm excluding the crown (45mm including the crown) and is equipped with a 20mm military nylon strap compatible with NATO-style straps.
This watch features a sapphire crystal rather than the standard mineral crystal. Sapphire is exceptionally hard and highly resistant to scratches and impacts, which is why it is commonly used in high-end watches and instruments intended for demanding professional use. For customers who use their watches in active environments—including the military, security personnel, and outdoor enthusiasts—sapphire offers significantly improved durability and clarity over time.
