1999-2001 Pattern Quartz Day/Date Military PVD BARS SOLID FIXED

MWC produced the predecessor of this 300m/1000ft waterproof dive watch between the early 1990s and 2004. Although some details, such as the dial design, have changed over this period, the 1999-2001 pattern dial remains the undisputed winner thanks to its easy readability, uncluttered layout and top-notch night performance.

The PVD finish is often specified in military contracts for many special forces units, as well as by counter-terrorism units and for various covert operations. In the PVD process, the steel is not completely black because the color is created by a special PVD chemical plating process that is far superior to the painted finish used on some lower quality watches that can easily fade or rub off. This PVD process means that the color of the steel is altered at a molecular level, so it will not deteriorate even during heavy use, although it can be destroyed if the case is severely damaged by a piece of metal or if the case is worn down by abrasion very heavy against rocks or something similar.

Advances in watch manufacturing have allowed us to improve overall specifications:

Crystal: Has gone from hardened mineral glass to sapphire, which is highly resistant to scratches and shattering.

Bezel: Updated with a 120-click bezel versus the previous 60 or 90 clicks.

Movement: Introducing the day/date version using the Swiss Ronda 517 movement with a 45 month battery life.

These watches are closely based on the case design originally made by the famous Swiss case manufacturing company MRP S.A., shown in the last two images.
